About this task
This publishing house in sport (201–500 employees) is looking for a specialist Brand Copy Editor for an ongoing part-time engagement of 1–2 h a week. Keeps a house style current and consistent.
The company wants a senior person on this without carrying the cost of a full-time role. It publishes content on a schedule, so editorial deadlines are fixed.
The team sits in New York City. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected. About 3 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (ET).
What you deliver
- Update the style sheet monthly with decisions from edits and answer questions from writers.
- Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
- A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends
- A written update every Monday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked
What a week looks like
- Wednesday: 15-minute check-in to agree the week's items
- Tuesday: main working block (1 hours)
- Monday: hand-off note with what shipped and what is open
Duration: 16 weeks, renewable. Accepted on the company's written OK. If something is missed, you fix it in the same week at no extra charge to either side.
