About this task

This beverage company in coffee (51–200 employees) is looking for a senior Privacy & GDPR Counsel for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Updates notices and cookie banners to match practice.

The company has a deadline, no one free to own it, and wants a person who has done the same job before. It produces and sells food and drink, with seasonal peaks and strict labelling rules.

The team sits in Poole. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Evenings or weekends are fine, as long as the agreed weekly output is there.

What you deliver

  • Review the privacy notice and cookie banner against actual tracking on the site.
  • A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope
  • A 20-minute walkthrough call, or a recorded screen share if you prefer
  • The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed

How the work runs

  • Day 1: scope confirmed in writing, files shared
  • Middle of the period: draft shared for early feedback
  • Last day: final version and handover note

Duration: 2 to 3 weeks. Accepted when the company contact confirms the deliverable against the written checklist. One round of edits is included.

Who fits

  • 5-10 years of hands-on work as a Privacy & GDPR Counsel, or the equivalent mix of roles
  • Comfortable working in Osano and Word
  • Admission to practise in England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland is required, and the sign-off on legal advice stays with the company's own counsel.

  • A habit of asking one clarifying question early rather than five late
  • Comfortable explaining numbers or decisions to a non-specialist reader

Not included

  • On-call availability outside the agreed window
  • Anything that needs a signature in your own name unless the brief says so
  • A signature or opinion in your own name: sign-off stays with the company

How you get paid

  • The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
  • Deftridge pays you in GBP after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
