About this task

This E-commerce platform for beauty (1,001–5,000 employees) is looking for a director Fractional General Counsel for an ongoing part-time engagement of 1–2 h a week. Briefs and manages law firms and keeps the budget in check.

Workload peaks and dips, so a few fixed hours a week fit better than a full-time seat. It sells online, so volumes move with promotions and the calendar matters.

The work is fully remote, but the company can only contract people who live in Utah, so this one is for residents there. Evenings or weekends are fine, as long as the agreed weekly output is there. About 3 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (MT).

What you deliver

• Brief outside counsel on a trademark dispute and review invoices against the estimate.
• A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
• A written update every Tuesday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked

What a week looks like

• Monday: 15-minute check-in to agree the week's items
• Friday: main working block (1 hours)
• Tuesday: hand-off note with what shipped and what is open

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted after the walkthrough. Edits requested within three working days are part of the price.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
