About this task
This technology consulting firm for family businesses (501–1,000 employees) is looking for a specialist Payroll Specialist for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Ties payroll totals to the ledger and the year-end forms.
The company has a deadline, no one free to own it, and wants a person who has done the same job before. It is a consulting firm, so client deadlines set the pace and handover notes are expected.
The team sits in San Mateo. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (PT).
What you deliver
- Reconcile annual payroll to the general ledger and prepare the W-2 and 1099 check lists.
- One round of edits after the company's review is included
- A 20-minute walkthrough call, or a recorded screen share if you prefer
- The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed
How the work runs
- Day 1: kickoff call and access to the files
- Days 2 to 6: the work, with questions answered the same day
- Last day: delivery and a short walkthrough
Duration: 1 to 2 weeks. Accepted on the company's written OK. If something is missed, you fix it in the same week at no extra charge to either side.
