About this task

This government IT contractor serving cities (1,001–5,000 employees) is looking for a senior Accounts Payable Specialist for an ongoing part-time engagement of 4–10 h a week. Enters invoices, matches them to purchase orders and routes them for approval.

The person who did this left, and the company would rather bring in an experienced part-timer than rush a permanent hire. It supplies the public sector, so documentation follows contract rules.

The company prefers a person who can come to Luton for kickoff and the final review; the rest is remote. The work runs in two set slots a week, agreed with the team at the start. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (UK time).

What you deliver

  • Process the week's 200 vendor invoices with two-way matching and chase approvers for the 15 oldest.
  • Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
  • Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
  • A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends

What a week looks like

  • Daily: one hour at a time that suits you, inside the agreed window
  • Wednesday: ten-minute sync if anything is blocked
  • Monday: weekly summary posted to the shared thread

Duration: 8 weeks, renewable. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.
