About this task

This subscription commerce company for beauty (1,001–5,000 employees) is looking for a manager Chief of Staff for an ongoing part-time engagement of 1–2 h a week. Tracks the company's top initiatives and blockers.

Workload peaks and dips, so a few fixed hours a week fit better than a full-time seat. It sells online, so volumes move with promotions and the calendar matters.

The team sits in Washington, D.C.. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Evenings or weekends are fine, as long as the agreed weekly output is there. About 1 hour a week should overlap with the team's day (ET).

What you deliver

• Track eight company initiatives and report status to the CEO monthly.
• A written update every Monday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked
• Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day

What a week looks like

• Tuesday: pick up the queue and confirm priorities
• Midweek: two short working sessions of one to two hours
• Monday: update sent before the company's end of day

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted on the company's written OK. If something is missed, you fix it in the same week at no extra charge to either side.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
