Terms of use for professionals

The rules for using Deftridge as a professional: your profile, tasks, rates, payments and conduct.

Applies to: ProfessionalsVersion 1.0Updated

01Who can use Deftridge#

You may create a profile if you are at least 18, are legally allowed to do paid work in the country where you live, and give us accurate information. You are responsible for checking that side work is permitted by your current employment agreement and by local rules. Deftridge does not give legal, employment or tax advice.

02Independent contractor relationship#

Professionals work with companies as independent contractors. Nothing in these terms or in a task creates an employment, partnership or agency relationship between you and Deftridge, or between you and the company. You decide how and when to do the work within the scope and deadline agreed for the task, you use your own equipment, and you are responsible for your own taxes, insurance and benefits.

03Profile and anonymity#

Your public profile shows a first name or alias, field, experience, tools and the hours you offer. We do not share your surname, your employer or your contact details with a company until you tell your recruiter you want to be introduced. You can withdraw from a conversation at any time before an engagement is confirmed.

04Rates, fees and payment#

You propose an hourly rate, and your recruiter agrees the exact figure with you and with the company before any work starts. Deftridge adds a service fee of 15% on top of your rate, paid by the company; it is never deducted from your pay. Companies prepay for the agreed hours or scope. We pay you the agreed rate for approved hours in the currency of the engagement (USD, CAD, GBP or EUR), on the schedule stated in the engagement confirmation. Where the law requires, we report payments to tax authorities.

05Conduct and quality#

Do the work you accept, to the agreed scope and on time, and tell your recruiter early if something changes. Keep company information confidential, respect intellectual property, and do not take on work that conflicts with an obligation to your employer. Do not use Deftridge to solicit companies or professionals outside the platform during an engagement that we introduced.

If a deliverable does not meet the agreed checklist, the company can ask for one round of rework. Repeated or serious problems can lead to removal from the platform.

06Work product and confidentiality#

Unless the engagement says otherwise, the company owns the finished work product once it has been paid for, and you keep ownership of your pre-existing tools and know-how. Both sides keep the other's confidential information confidential during the engagement and for two years after it ends.

07Ending your account#

You can close your account at any time from your portal or by writing to us. Active tasks are completed or handed over first. We may suspend or close an account for fraud, false information, harassment or a breach of these terms, and will explain why unless the law forbids it.

08Liability and disputes#

Deftridge provides an introduction and payment service and does not guarantee that a task will be offered or completed. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the fees we received for the engagement in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud or personal injury. If a problem arises, write to us first; we aim to resolve it within 30 days. These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware for professionals in the United States and Canada, and by the laws of England and Wales for professionals in the United Kingdom and the European Union, without removing any mandatory consumer or worker rights you have where you live.

09Changes to these terms#

If we make a material change we will update the date on this page and email active professionals at least 14 days before it takes effect.
