Product managers find side work in discovery and documentation more than in daily delivery: customer interviews, a prioritised roadmap, product requirement documents, a review of analytics before a pricing change. Delivery management needs daily presence, so it rarely fits a five-hour week.
Founders hire part-time product managers when they need a second opinion they can trust. Show one or two products you shaped and the decisions you made, not just the features you shipped. Conflicts are a real risk in this role: avoid companies that compete with your employer's product, even indirectly, and declare adjacent markets up front.
