About this task

This publishing house (51–200 employees) is looking for a manager Content Lead for an ongoing part-time engagement of 3–6 h a week. Briefs that writers can follow without a call.

Workload peaks and dips, so a few fixed hours a week fit better than a full-time seat. It publishes content on a schedule, so editorial deadlines are fixed.

The company prefers a person who can come to Cambridge for kickoff and the final review; the rest is remote. The work runs in two set slots a week, agreed with the team at the start. About 1 hour a week should overlap with the team's day (UK time).

What you deliver

  • Produce eight article briefs a week with outline, sources, search intent and internal links.
  • Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
  • Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
  • A written update every Monday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked

What a week looks like

  • Daily: one hour at a time that suits you, inside the agreed window
  • Tuesday: ten-minute sync if anything is blocked
  • Monday: weekly summary posted to the shared thread

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted when the company contact confirms the deliverable against the written checklist. One round of edits is included.

  • Work outside the scope written in the brief; extra items are quoted separately
  • Travel or work at a fixed location

How you get paid

  • The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
  • Deftridge pays you in GBP after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
