About this task

This environmental nonprofit in climate (51–200 employees) is looking for a senior Bookkeeper for an ongoing part-time engagement of 2–4 h a week. Codes bank and card transactions and queries unclear items.

Workload peaks and dips, so a few fixed hours a week fit better than a full-time seat. It is a nonprofit, so budgets are tight and grant reporting dates are fixed.

The team sits in Toronto. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. The company prefers early-morning hours, before a normal working day starts. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (ET).

What you deliver

• Code the week's transactions for a 12-person agency and send a short list of questions to the owner.
• Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
• A written update every Thursday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked

What a week looks like

• Daily: one hour at a time that suits you, inside the agreed window
• Monday: ten-minute sync if anything is blocked
• Thursday: weekly summary posted to the shared thread

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted when the company contact confirms the deliverable against the written checklist. One round of edits is included.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in CAD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
