About this task

This Series A analytics software company for sales teams (51–200 employees) is looking for a senior Data Scientist for an ongoing part-time engagement of 3–8 h a week. A standing hour for the analytics team's modelling questions.

The person who did this left, and the company would rather bring in an experienced part-timer than rush a permanent hire. The company sells subscription software, so deadlines follow release and billing cycles.

The team sits in Jacksonville. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. The company prefers early-morning hours, before a normal working day starts. About 3 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (ET).

What you deliver

• Review the team's models and notebooks, answer questions and unblock two analysts a week.
• Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
• A written update every Friday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked

What a week looks like

• Tuesday: pick up the queue and confirm priorities
• Midweek: two short working sessions of one to two hours
• Friday: update sent before the company's end of day

Duration: 16 weeks, renewable. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
