About this task

This retail chain with 40 stores (1,001–5,000 employees) is looking for a specialist SQL & ETL Support for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Finds queries and tables that cost the most and proposes savings.

A fresh pair of experienced eyes is needed, and the result is a document or file the team can use straight away. It is a retailer with stores and an online channel, and the team works to a weekly trading rhythm.

The team sits in Aurora. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. You choose your hours; nothing is scheduled except an occasional short call. About 1 hour a week should overlap with the team's day (CT).

What you deliver

• Analyse a quarter of warehouse spend and list five changes that cut cost by a target amount.
• A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope
• One round of edits after the company's review is included
• The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed

How the work runs

• Day 1: scope confirmed in writing, files shared
• Middle of the period: draft shared for early feedback
• Last day: final version and handover note

Duration: about 10 working days. Accepted on the company's written OK. If something is missed, you fix it in the same week at no extra charge to either side.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
