About this task

This health insurer for travel (201–500 employees) is looking for a manager Fractional Controller for a monthly bundle of recurring tasks, 10–24 h a month. Finance-side support for moving from one ledger or ERP to another.

A named list of recurring items keeps the month predictable for both sides. It is an insurer, so accuracy and an audit trail come before speed.

The team sits in Berlin. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected.

What you deliver

  • Own the data mapping, opening balances and parallel run for a QuickBooks-to-NetSuite migration.
  • The monthly list of items completed, each with a link to the result
  • A running log of open questions, reviewed at the start of each week
  • A named list of items moved to next month, so nothing is lost

What a month looks like

  • Start of month: the company shares the items and the priorities
  • Mid-month: progress check of 15 minutes
  • Month end: hours used against the cap, results and open items

Duration: 12 weeks, with a monthly hours cap. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.

Who fits

  • 7-12 years of hands-on work as a Fractional Controller, or the equivalent mix of roles
  • Business-level German as well as English: the documents and part of the team work in German
  • Comfortable working in NetSuite, QuickBooks and Excel
  • A professional qualification is required for any sign-off; the company keeps the final signature, you prepare and review.
  • Your own work history stays private; the company sees a first name, your field and a rate

Nice to have

  • Experience in a similar industry
  • A habit of asking one clarifying question early rather than five late

Not included

  • On-call availability outside the agreed window
  • Managing other contractors or employees
  • A signature or opinion in your own name: sign-off stays with the company

How you get paid

  • The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
  • Deftridge pays you in EUR after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
