About this task

This digital bank serving small businesses (501–1,000 employees) is looking for a director Fractional Controller for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Checks contracts against recognition policy and drafts the memo.

It is a self-contained job: scope, checklist and price are agreed before you start. It is a regulated bank; the work is documented and reviewed before anything is signed off.

The team sits in Prague. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected.

What you deliver

  • Review twenty annual contracts for ASC 500 treatment and write the policy memo and journal proposals.
  • The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed
  • A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope
  • A 20-minute walkthrough call, or a recorded screen share if you prefer

How the work runs

  • Day 1: scope confirmed in writing, files shared
  • Middle of the period: draft shared for early feedback
  • Last day: final version and handover note

Duration: about 10 working days. Accepted when the company contact confirms the deliverable against the written checklist. One round of edits is included.

Who fits

  • Comfortable working in Excel, NetSuite and Stripe

  • Your own work history stays private; the company sees a first name, your field and a rate

Nice to have

  • Comfortable explaining numbers or decisions to a non-specialist reader
  • A habit of asking one clarifying question early rather than five late

Not included

  • Travel or work at a fixed location
  • Anything that needs a signature in your own name unless the brief says so
  • A signature or opinion in your own name: sign-off stays with the company

How you get paid

  • The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
  • Deftridge pays you in EUR after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
