About this task

This environmental nonprofit in education access (201–500 employees) is looking for a senior Internal Audit & SOX Support for an ongoing part-time engagement of 1–2 h a week. Tracks open findings and verifies the fixes.

The person who did this left, and the company would rather bring in an experienced part-timer than rush a permanent hire. It is a nonprofit, so budgets are tight and grant reporting dates are fixed.

The work is fully remote, but the company can only contract people who live in North Carolina, so this one is for residents there. The work runs in two set slots a week, agreed with the team at the start. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (ET).

What you deliver

• Follow up 12 open audit findings with owners, record evidence and close those that pass re-test.
• A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends
• Work logged against the agreed list, so the company contact can see progress without a call
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day

What a week looks like

• Tuesday: pick up the queue and confirm priorities
• Midweek: two short working sessions of one to two hours
• Friday: update sent before the company's end of day

Duration: 12 weeks, renewable. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.

• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
