About this task

This Series C collaboration software company for retailers (201–500 employees) is looking for a senior SQL & ETL Support for an ongoing part-time engagement of 3–6 h a week. Finds why a load failed and fixes or escalates it.

The person who did this left, and the company would rather bring in an experienced part-timer than rush a permanent hire. The company sells subscription software, so deadlines follow release and billing cycles.

The team sits in Birmingham. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. The work runs in two set slots a week, agreed with the team at the start. About 3 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (CT).

What you deliver

• Monitor overnight loads, resolve failures and write a short incident note for each one.
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
• A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends
• A written update every Thursday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked

What a week looks like

• Friday: 15-minute check-in to agree the week's items
• Tuesday: main working block (2 hours)
• Thursday: hand-off note with what shipped and what is open

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted on the company's written OK. If something is missed, you fix it in the same week at no extra charge to either side.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
