About this task

This Series B accounting software company for nonprofits (51–200 employees) is looking for a manager Payroll Specialist for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Moves payroll to a new provider with a parallel run.

A fresh pair of experienced eyes is needed, and the result is a document or file the team can use straight away. It operates in regulated payments and lending, so a written trail for every decision matters.

The work is fully remote and open to anyone living in an EU country; the team itself works from Germany. You choose your hours; nothing is scheduled except an occasional short call. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (CET).

What you deliver

  • Migrate 60 employees to a new payroll provider with opening balances and a parallel run.
  • The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed
  • A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope
  • One round of edits after the company's review is included

How the work runs

  • Day 1: kickoff call and access to the files
  • Days 2 to 9: the work, with questions answered the same day
  • Last day: delivery and a short walkthrough

Duration: 1 to 2 weeks. Accepted when the company contact confirms the deliverable against the written checklist. One round of edits is included.

Who fits

  • 7-12 years of hands-on work as a Payroll Specialist, or the equivalent mix of roles
  • Business-level German as well as English: the documents and part of the team work in German
  • Comfortable working in ADP, Gusto and Rippling

  • A habit of asking one clarifying question early rather than five late

Not included

  • On-call availability outside the agreed window
  • Work outside the scope written in the brief; extra items are quoted separately
  • Anything that needs a signature in your own name unless the brief says so

How you get paid

  • The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
  • Deftridge pays you in EUR after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
