About this task

This finance advisory firm for family businesses (201–500 employees) is looking for a director Fractional HR Business Partner for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Plans a headcount reduction fairly and legally in the right jurisdictions.

The work is too small to justify a hire and too important to leave to chance. It is a consulting firm, so client deadlines set the pace and handover notes are expected.

The team sits in Toronto. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected.

What you deliver

• Build the consultation timeline and communications pack for a 15% reduction in three countries.
• A 20-minute walkthrough call, or a recorded screen share if you prefer
• The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed
• One round of edits after the company's review is included

How the work runs

• Day 1: kickoff call and access to the files
• Days 2 to 7: the work, with questions answered the same day
• Last day: delivery and a short walkthrough

Duration: 1 to 2 weeks. Accepted after the walkthrough. Edits requested within three working days are part of the price.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in CAD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
