About this task

This Series B workflow automation company for construction firms (51–200 employees) is looking for a specialist Paralegal for an ongoing part-time engagement of 3–8 h a week. Keeps matter files organised and deadlines clear.

The person who did this left, and the company would rather bring in an experienced part-timer than rush a permanent hire. The company sells subscription software, so deadlines follow release and billing cycles.

The team sits in Watford. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. The work runs in two set slots a week, agreed with the team at the start. About 3 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (UK time).

What you deliver

  • Organise matter files, update the docket and send a weekly deadline list.
  • A written update every Wednesday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked
  • Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day
  • A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends

What a week looks like

  • Tuesday: 15-minute check-in to agree the week's items
  • Monday: main working block (3 hours)
  • Wednesday: hand-off note with what shipped and what is open

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.

Not included

  • Work outside the scope written in the brief; extra items are quoted separately

  • Deftridge pays you in GBP after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
