About this task

This proptech company in residential development (11–50 employees) is looking for a senior Regulatory Researcher for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. Recent enforcement and what it suggests.

The work is too small to justify a hire and too important to leave to chance. It works in real estate and construction, where project documents change often.

The work is fully remote, but the company can only contract people who live in New Jersey, so this one is for residents there. Evenings or weekends are fine, as long as the agreed weekly output is there.

What you deliver

  • Review enforcement actions over two years and extract themes and fine ranges.
  • A 20-minute walkthrough call, or a recorded screen share if you prefer
  • A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope
  • The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed

How the work runs

  • Day 1: scope confirmed in writing, files shared
  • Middle of the period: draft shared for early feedback
  • Last day: final version and handover note

Duration: about 10 working days. Accepted after the walkthrough. Edits requested within three working days are part of the price.

Who fits

  • 5-10 years of hands-on work as a Regulatory Researcher, or the equivalent mix of roles
  • Comfortable working in SEC.gov and FCA.org.uk
  • Your own work history stays private; the company sees a first name, your field and a rate

Nice to have

  • Comfortable explaining numbers or decisions to a non-specialist reader
  • A habit of asking one clarifying question early rather than five late

Not included

  • Travel or work at a fixed location
  • On-call availability outside the agreed window
  • Managing other contractors or employees

How you get paid

  • The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
  • Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
  • You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
  • You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
