About this task

This Machine-learning platform (5,000+ employees) is looking for a manager HR Generalist for an ongoing part-time engagement of 3–7 h a week. The person employees e-mail with HR questions.

The person who did this left, and the company would rather bring in an experienced part-timer than rush a permanent hire. It builds AI products and needs human experts to check what the models produce.

The team sits in Chula Vista. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. The work runs in two set slots a week, agreed with the team at the start. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (PT).

What you deliver

• Answer employee HR questions within a working day and log recurring topics for the monthly note.
• A written update every Thursday with what was done, what is next and anything blocked
• A short handover note when the engagement pauses or ends
• Questions collected in one thread, answered within one working day

What a week looks like

• Daily: one hour at a time that suits you, inside the agreed window
• Tuesday: ten-minute sync if anything is blocked
• Thursday: weekly summary posted to the shared thread

Duration: 6 months, then month by month. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in USD after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
