About this task
This hospitality operator in short-term rentals (5,000+ employees) is looking for a senior Data Scientist for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. A forecast with an honest error range.
It is a self-contained job: scope, checklist and price are agreed before you start. It works in travel and hospitality, where demand is seasonal.
The work is fully remote, but the company can only contract people who live in New York, so this one is for residents there. You choose your hours; nothing is scheduled except an occasional short call. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (ET).
What you deliver
- Build a weekly demand forecast for 25 products and compare it with the current spreadsheet method.
- The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed
- A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope
- One round of edits after the company's review is included
How the work runs
- Day 1: scope confirmed in writing, files shared
- Middle of the period: draft shared for early feedback
- Last day: final version and handover note
Duration: 1 to 2 weeks. Accepted when the output matches the agreed checklist and the sample check passes; the recruiter confirms by e-mail.
