About this task

This international nonprofit in refugee support (5,000+ employees) is looking for a manager Data Scientist for a single piece of work with a fixed scope and a fixed price. A model that predicts who leaves or buys, with its accuracy explained.

The company has a deadline, no one free to own it, and wants a person who has done the same job before. It is a nonprofit, so budgets are tight and grant reporting dates are fixed.

The team sits in Leeds. Everything can be done remotely; an occasional visit is welcome and never required for the first month. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected. About 2 hours a week should overlap with the team's day (UK time).

What you deliver

• Build and validate a churn model on 25 months of customer data and explain the top drivers in plain language.
• The finished deliverable in the agreed file format, with sources and assumptions listed
• One round of edits after the company's review is included
• A final note stating what was checked and what was left out of scope

How the work runs

• Day 1: scope confirmed in writing, files shared
• Middle of the period: draft shared for early feedback
• Last day: final version and handover note

Duration: 2 to 3 weeks. Accepted after the walkthrough. Edits requested within three working days are part of the price.

How you get paid

• The company prepays Deftridge before your first hour, so payment does not depend on a late invoice.
• Deftridge pays you in GBP after the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. The payment date is written in your task agreement.
• You work as an independent contractor: you report your own income, and your recruiter sends the statements your accountant needs.
• You never chase the company. Questions about money go to Deftridge.
