About this task
This digital media company covering business news (1,001–5,000 employees) is looking for a manager Fractional Controller for a monthly bundle of recurring tasks, 12–24 h a month. The schedules and support an auditor requests, ready before fieldwork starts.
The same kind of work comes back every month, so the company prefers one person with an hours cap over ad-hoc requests. It publishes content on a schedule, so editorial deadlines are fixed.
The work is fully remote, but the company can only contract people who live in Pennsylvania, so this one is for residents there. Most people do this on weekday evenings; replies inside the working day are not expected.
What you deliver
- Prepare the PBC list for a year-end audit: fixed assets, accruals, debt, equity and revenue schedules.
- A named list of items moved to next month, so nothing is lost
- A month-end summary with hours used against the cap
- A running log of open questions, reviewed at the start of each week
What a month looks like
- Week 1: intake call and a list of what is due this month
- Weeks 2 and 3: items completed in short sessions
- Week 4: month-end summary and the list for next month
Duration: 8 weeks, with a monthly hours cap. Accepted after the walkthrough. Edits requested within three working days are part of the price.
