## 01 Who we are#

Deftridge, Inc. (Delaware, USA) and Deftridge Ltd (United Kingdom) are the controllers of the personal data described here. For people in the United States and Canada the controller is Deftridge, Inc.; for people in the United Kingdom and the European Union it is Deftridge Ltd. Privacy questions go to [privacy@deftridge.com](mailto:privacy@deftridge.com).

## 02 What we collect#

- **You give us:** name, email, country and city, field, experience, tools, hours offered, rate expectations, links you choose to share, messages and, for engagements, payment and tax details.

- **Automatically:** approximate location derived from your IP address (country and city, used to show local rates and tasks), device and browser type, and pages visited, through Google Analytics.

- **From companies:** the task brief and feedback on completed work.

## 03 Why we use it#

We use your data to run your account and match you with tasks (contract), to pay you and meet tax and accounting duties (legal obligation), to keep the platform safe and prevent fraud (legitimate interests), to send you the emails you asked for, such as a rate report (consent or legitimate interests), and to understand how the site is used (consent). We do not make decisions with legal effect about you based only on automated processing: every match is reviewed by a recruiter.

## 04 Who receives it#

A company sees your anonymous profile. It learns your name and contact details only after you agree to an introduction. We use service providers for hosting, email delivery, payments and analytics; they process data only on our instructions. We may disclose data where the law requires it or to protect people from harm. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising.

## 05 How long we keep it#

We keep profile data while your account is active and for up to 24 months after your last activity. Records of payments and invoices are kept for as long as tax law requires, usually six to seven years. Contact-form messages are deleted after 24 months unless they relate to an engagement. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.

## 06 Your rights#

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict some uses, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have the rights those laws give, including to know what we collect and to opt out of sale or sharing (see [Do not sell or share](https://deftridge.com/do-not-sell/)). Write to [privacy@deftridge.com](mailto:privacy@deftridge.com); we respond within 30 days (45 for some US requests). You may also complain to your data protection authority, for example the ICO in the United Kingdom or your national authority in the EU.

## 07 International transfers#

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the UK or the EEA we rely on adequacy decisions or on standard contractual clauses, and the UK addendum where needed.

## 08 Security and children#

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to staff who need it, and access is logged. Deftridge is not for people under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

## 09 Changes#

When we make a material change we update the date on this page and tell account holders by email.

## 10 Questions#

Write to [privacy@deftridge.com](mailto:privacy@deftridge.com).
