Title: How it works: a few hours a week, done properly | Deftridge
Summary: How professionals get part-time tasks with the rate up front, and how companies get a shortlist in 48 hours. Deftridge is free for professionals.

How it works

# A few hours a week, done properly

Deftridge connects working professionals with small, well-defined tasks from vetted companies. You see the rate before you reply, a named recruiter handles everything in between and nobody sees your name until you say so.

For professionals

## From e-mail address to first task

### Tell us your field

Category, country and e-mail. Two minutes, no CV needed yet. Add your experience and the rate you want when you are ready.

### A recruiter reads your profile

A named recruiter for your category learns how many hours you have, checks references if the task needs them and agrees your exact rate with you, inside the range the company set.

### You see real tasks, with the rate

Three to five tasks that fit, each with an hourly rate, a load and a start date. The company sees an anonymous profile until you agree.

### You work, you are paid

The company prepays Deftridge, so the money is there before you start. Deftridge pays you once the company confirms the hours or the deliverable. You keep the whole rate; the company pays 15% on top.

## Common questions

More answers in the [guides](https://deftridge.com/guides/) and the [glossary](https://deftridge.com/glossary/).

Is it really free for professionals?

Yes. Every task shows an hourly rate, you agree your exact rate with your recruiter before anything is sent, and you keep all of it. The company pays our 15% on top, so there is no fee for you at any step.

Will my current employer find out?

Companies see an anonymous profile until you agree to an introduction, and we never share your identity without your consent. Check your employment contract first: some employers limit outside work, and we cannot give legal advice.

How many hours is a task?

Most tasks are one to two hours a day, around five hours a week. Across all projects the platform cap is 15 hours a week.

Am I an employee?

No. You work as an independent contractor. Tax rules depend on your country, so treat our pages as general information and ask an accountant about your own case.

Can I work with more than one company?

Yes, as long as the total stays inside 15 hours a week and your employment contract allows it. Your recruiter keeps the count so you do not have to.

What if a company wants to hire me full-time?

There is no placement fee, for the company or for you. The decision is yours.

How do I know a message is really from you?

Real messages come only from an @deftridge.com address, and every recruiter is listed on our team page. Paste any address into the checker above to see.

Which countries do you cover?

Professionals and companies in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the EU member states.
